Lemon Thoughts & Drinking Problems

I realized I must have a drinking problem! (not really, but bear with me…)

I was on a lecture about professional women sponsored by BPW – Florianópolis (Brazil), and at some point the chairman asked us to imagine a lemon – a big, juicy lemon – then we had to slice it in four. I should had known by then there was a problem… as soon as I pictured a friend of mine slicing lemons to make Caipirinha, but it only came to me when the speaker asked us to bite it. I bit it alright… just after “drinking” a shot of tequila.

FYI:
- The whole picturing exercise was made in order to explain that reality comes true through our thoughts. Something like “the spoon is only real ‘cause you believe it is…"
- BPW – Business Professional Women; a world wide organization that works towards establishing equal opportunities to women in the professional world.

Books, Bruises and WWII

I finished reading my first Holiday book: The Reader. Schlink really know how to work the details and transport his readers into the story. Throughout the book he describes the distance, or detachment people have towards the Great War. I get that, I understand that humanity, in general, is ashamed of such cruelty and irrelevance of the human life then. I find such acts and conducts to be disgusting, but at the same time, pieces about the WWII fascinate me.
On what grounds? My guess is that fascination relies on the same curiosity within which kids pick on their bruises.
